Relationship Therapy in Essex and Online

Relationships can be deeply important, but they can also become places of tension, distance, uncertainty or hurt. Relationship therapy offers a confidential and non-judgemental space to understand what is happening between you, explore patterns that may be difficult to shift, and consider what you would like to be different.

I work with couples, throuples, individuals and people in a range of relationship structures, both online and in Essex.

What can relationship therapy help with?

People come to relationship therapy for many different reasons.

You may be experiencing:

  • communication difficulties or recurring arguments

  • emotional distance or loss of connection

  • differences in sexual desire or intimacy

  • affairs, betrayal or ruptures of trust

  • difficulties navigating change, stress or life transitions

  • uncertainty about the future of a relationship

  • challenges within non-monogamous, polyamorous or other relationship structures

  • a wish to understand one another better and strengthen your relationship

You do not need to be in crisis to come to relationship therapy. Some people seek support because something feels stuck; others want space to reflect on their relationship before difficulties become more entrenched.

How I work with relationships

My approach is collaborative, thoughtful and non-judgemental. I do not take sides or look for one person to blame. Instead, we explore the patterns between you, what may be maintaining difficulties, and what each person needs from the relationship.

My work is integrative and pluralistic, drawing on different therapeutic approaches depending on what is most useful for you. This may include exploring communication, attachment, relationship history, emotional and sexual intimacy, trust, boundaries and the ways you respond to one another during periods of difficulty.

I work affirmatively with a wide range of identities, sexualities and relationship structures, and therapy is shaped around your particular relationship rather than assumptions about what a relationship should look like.

Couples, throuples and other relationship structures

Relationship therapy is not limited to traditional couples. I work with couples, throuples, people in consensually non-monogamous or polyamorous relationships, and individuals who want to explore relationship difficulties on their own.

The focus is on understanding your particular relationship, the agreements and expectations within it, and what each person hopes to gain from therapy. There is no assumption that one relationship structure is more valid or healthier than another.

Taking the first step

Beginning relationship therapy can feel like a significant decision, particularly if things have been difficult for some time. The first step is an Initial Consultation, where we can talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you would like help with, and whether working together feels right.

Relationship therapy is available in Essex and online.
